Collichio named BSC Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- UNC Asheville men's cross country runner, Dominic Collichio has been named the Big South Conference men's cross country Runner of the Week, the League announced this afternoon.
Collichio, a red-shirt junior, took first place overall in the Western Carolina Invitational this past weekend with a time of 15:39.21. His first place finish lifted the Bulldogs' men's team to a first place finish with a combined time of 1:20:12.55, an average time of 16:02.51. They finished just ahead of Western Carolina who produced a combined time of 1:20:44.47, and an average of 16:08.90.
“We're excited for Dominic to be named Runner of the Week. I think it speaks to the work that he and his teammates have put in thus far, and we feel that it is just the beginning for him this year,” said head Coach Jesse Norman.
Dominic is a familiar leader of the Bulldogs' men's distance pack. In the 2015 Big South Conference Championship Cross Country Meet, he was first for Asheville in the men's open race with a 25:50.49 time to finish 17th overall.
Collichio and the Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend on their home course at Asheville Christian Academy on Saturday, September 10 with the men kicking off competition at 9:00 a.m.
