ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Bulldogs host the Appalachian State Mountaineers in men's soccer at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Greenwood Field.

NOTABLES:

Last Time Out: The Bulldogs got off to a winning start in Big South Conference play, defeating Longwood at Greenwood Field 3-2 on a golden goal by Zach Joens in the second overtime. This was the second goal of the match for the senior forward from Asheville. Joens also assisted on the Bulldogs' other goal, scored by junior Zack Compton.

Scouting Appalachian State: After beginning the season with four losses, Appalachian State is picking up momentum, having gained two wins and a tie in their last four matches. The Mountaineers got an encouraging comeback victory after trailing 1-0 at Davidson on Saturday when Stephen Chapman converted a penalty kick, and then Rian Phillips scored on a header in the 76th minute for a 2-1 win.

Playing the Same Opponents: These two mountain rivals have played three of the same opponents this season, but the results provide no clues as to which is the stronger team. The Bulldogs and Mountaineers both lost 1-0 decisions to the very tough East Tennessee State squad. The Bulldogs also lost to Davidson but beat Longwood, while the Mountaineers beat Davidson and lost to Longwood.
