ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team opens up conference play this weekend visiting conference rivals Campbell and High Point. The action begins Friday evening at 7:00pm at Campbell and 4:00pm Saturday at High Point. 

 

NOTABLES

Head-to-Head: Asheville is 4-3 all-time against Campbell, with their last win coming October 31, 2015 (3-1 Bulldog victory).  Asheville is 30-6 all-time against High Point, the Bulldogs lost their last match, October 30, 2015 (2-3) to the Panthers. 

 

Ins and Outs: UNC Asheville enters the weekend coming off a Tuesday night sweep of mountain foe Western Carolina (3-0 victory) 

 

Top Dog: Sophomore Cara Guthrie leads the UNC Asheville attack with 108 kills on the season. Shelby Erickson is second with 84 kills. Madison Vaughn's 25 total blocks are a team-high.

 

Scouting Campbell:  The Camels defeated North Carolina A & T in straight sets last weekend. Campbell senior Jenny Tait boasts 55 total blocks on the season, which is sixth in the league. She has the highest hitting percentage at .347.

 

Scouting High Point: The Panthers dropped their first Big South Conference match to Radford on Tuesday night. Junior Hayley Barnes is second in the conference averaging 3.31 kills per set.
