One Day 'Till Bulldog Cross Country

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Only one day stands between the UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams and their 2016 season opener at Western Carolina University on Saturday, September 3. In order to prepare fans for the upcoming season, meet senior Sarah Heisner.
Heisner comes to Asheville from St. Johns, Fla. She has competed in both cross country and track for the Bulldogs for the past three years. On the course in 2015, she posted a time of 11:43.5 in the 2K at the Western Carolina University Invitational. She had a personal best this season in the 5K with a time of 18:08.2, to finish eighth at the Big South Conference Championships. She also beat her personal best in the 6K with a time of 22:24.9 at the 2015 DI Pre-Nationals.

What is your favorite part about UNC Asheville?
My favorite part about UNC Asheville is definitely getting to go to school in Asheville. I love the mountains and the town of Asheville.
What are your post-school plans?
I hope to get a job as an elementary teacher.
Why did you choose Asheville?
I chose going to UNCA because I loved the Asheville area. I also really liked my teammates when I met them on my recruiting trip.
How long have you been running?
I have been running cross country since I was in the 4th grade.
Who has been your biggest influence on the course/track?
My teammates.
What are three things you can't live without?
Jersey Mikes, music, and pasta
What's your favorite food?
Mexican and Italian food

What are you most looking forward to this season?
Getting to race at the UNCA home cross country course three times!
What's something most people may not know about you?
Two of my front teeth are fake.
