ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team will hold their home opener this Tuesday, August 30 in the Justice Center at 7:00 p.m. against the Cavaliers of Montreat.
Tuesday's game will also feature a pizza party for the class of 2020, with the athletic department providing free pizza to 2016 freshman class members while supplies last.
NOTABLES
Bulldogs Back in Action: Asheville finished opening weekend at the Benson Hospitality Tournament with a record of 1-2, picking up their first win of 2016 over Savannah State University (3-0) on Saturday afternoon.
Last Time Out: The last time these two teams met was on September 4 of last season where the Bulldogs won in three straight sets to give head coach Fred Santos his 100th victory.
All-Tourney Team: Sophomore outside hitter Cara Guthrie earned All-Tournament team honors after picking up a team-high 38 kills and averaging 3.48 kills per set. The native of Jupiter, Fl also tallied six service aces and 25 digs on the weekend.
DogsThat Dig: After the opening weekend of play for the Big South Conference, Asheville's Madisen Zybert sits second in the league in digs with 57 total (5.18 digs/set).

-Following Tuesday's home match, the Bulldogs will have a weekend off from competition before they host the UNC Asheville Invitational on September 9-10. Asheville will open the tournament with North Carolina Central on September 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Justice Center.
