#9 Days 'Till Bulldog Men's Soccer

Asheville, N.C.- August 17th leaves only nine days until the first official game for UNC Asheville men's soccer against Elon University on August 26 in Durham, N.C. To assist in preparing for the season, meet #9, Zach Joens.
Joens led Asheville in multiple statistical categories in the 2015 season (points, goals, shots, shots on goal) and was the only Asheville player to score more than two goals last year. Altogether, he was responsible for nine of the team's 23 total goals for 2015.

What is your favorite part about UNC Asheville?

What are your post-school plans?
Hopefully to play professionally and coach or become a sea captain
Why did you choose Asheville?
Because I've always grown up around the Asheville Bulldogs community and program and have seen what it has become and what it had to offer which was great coaching and quality education that holds value
How long have you been playing soccer?
I've been playing for 18 years
Who has been your biggest influence on the field?
Mike Rottjakob. Growing up in the ABYSA community he was my first coach that laid down the foundation for me to play at this level and hopefully the next.
What are three things you can't live without?
Dominance, puzzles, and peanut butter
What's your favorite food?
Pumpernickel croutons
What nicknames do you have?
Joensy, and coach calls me muffin sometimes

What are you most looking forward to this season?
Winning a Big South Championship and the free food

I can count to ten in two languages.
