ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Thirteen home matches, and the return of the four-team UNC Asheville Invitational highlight the 2016 Bulldog volleyball schedule. Fifth year head coach Fred Santos announced the 26-match schedule earlier today.

The Bulldogs' second annual UNC Asheville Invitational will be held on September 9 and 10, inviting four teams to the Justice Center floor in Asheville's second nonconference tournament.

“We are very happy about our schedule. It will provide a good mix of matches for us in preparation for the Big South Conference play. We are also very pleased to be hosting a home tournament again for our friends and fans to be able to come and cheer their Bulldogs in early September,” head coach Fred Santos said.

Santos and the Bulldogs will play host 13 times this season, with five of those home matches falling on a Friday or Saturday.

Asheville will open their season on August 26th and 27th at the University of Georgia Tournament in Athens. They'll play their first match against San Francisco University on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. followed by two matches on Saturday against the University of Georgia and Savannah State.

Following three tournaments, the Bulldogs will close nonconference play with a midweek matchup against regional rival Western Carolina in the Justice Center on Tuesday, September 20.

The Bulldogs will open conference play with a pair of road matches at Campbell University and High Point University on September 23 and 24, followed by a home weekend featuring Liberty University and Radford University.

Asheville will also host a midseason stretch of five conference games in the Justice Center beginning on October 8 with Charleston Southern University and ending on October 25 with a Battle of the Bulldogs against Gardner-Webb University. Following the home stint, the Bulldogs will go on the road to Virginia for a pair of conference games at Radford University and Liberty University on October 28 and 29.

The Bulldogs wrap up the regular season on the road at Presbyterian College (November 8) and Winthrop University November 12). Big South Conference play will begin with quarterfinals following regular season play.
