Hello Bulldogs past, present and future!
This summer is going to be a fun one! I am very excited to be home training with my club swim team, YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA), this summer. After a crazy, fun sophomore year at school, it's great to be home & catch up with old teammates and meet new members of the YOTA family.
This summer is going to be very busy but very fun. I am working at a local smoothie shop at Triangle Aquatics Center (can't get away from the pool) called FRESH-Healthy Café, while volunteering at local elementary schools, babysitting, staying involved in my local church, and, of course, TRAINING! I will be busy, but also in shape physically and mentally for a great junior year and season.
The first day back in Raleigh, I trained with my club team. Coach Chad has been amazing in reintroducing me to the training program and helping set goals for the summer. The awesome family atmosphere makes 4:00AM morning practice wake-up calls bearable, and my fellow returning college teammates keep me on track in the pool, in dryland, and in the weight room.
What I am most excited about this summer is cheering on my sister, Hannah, at Olympic Trails in Omaha. She will be swimming for YOTA-Towson, and I am so excited to see her swim her final race with the big-dogs. That girl never ceases to amaze me. She is the poster child for hard work paying off in the pool. I cannot wait to see her crush the 400IM and amaze me once again. Coach Chad has been working with me to train with a local swim team while I am in Omaha for the week. You didn't think I would get out of training that easy, did you? Although I am cheering Hannah to the finish of her final race, my eyes are still set on my end of season meet in Orlando and next season with the Bulldogs. In order to be the best teammate I can be, I must come back in better shape than I left.
I hope everyone's summer is off to a great start and people are as pumped to come back in better shape after a fun filled summer as I am!! I look forward to hearing all about how my fellow Bulldog's summers are going and am even more excited to see everyone on pool deck when we get back to school. Until then, have a great summer, train hard, laugh a lot, make some memories, and be ready for an amazing 2016-17 season!!
GO BULLDOGS!!
