Women's 4x400 Delivers All-Conference Finish in Big South Finale

LYNCHBURG– After three full days of competition, the men finished in eighth place with 15 points, while the women placed eighth with 35 points. Liberty captured the Big South Conference Championship in both the men's and women's competitions with 257 points (men) and 235.5 points (women).
NOTABLES
-The Women's 4x400m relay brought home and all-conference finish, placing third with a time of 3:49.89. This time will give the quartet of Kayli Nichols, Alyssa Lashway, Argia Gibson and Anna Gelbach a new Asheville program record.
-Sophomore Kayli Nichols highlighted the final day of competition in individual events with fourth place finishes in both the 100m and 400m hurdles finals. In the 100m hurdles, Nichols set a new school record with a time of 14.38. In the 400m hurdles, Nichols just missed the podium with a time of 1:02.84.
-The women's 4x100m relay team placed fourth overall to earn five points. The quartet of Nateja Hale, Argia Gibson, Kayli Nichols and Anna Gelbach broke 48 seconds for the first time this season with a time of 47.99.
-Dominic Collichio placed sixth overall in the men's 5,000m with a time of 15:03.89.
-Andy Thornburg scored points for Asheville in both the 800m and 1500m finals. The senior placed 8th in the 800m with a time of 1:56.41, and seventh in the 1500m just under four minutes at 3:59.88.
- The men's 4x100m relay team of Matt Barrera, Patrick Osborne, Chase Stevens and Nathan Kirse placed seventh overall with a time of 45.30.
-In the women's 800m Alyssa Lashway placed seventh overall with a time of 2:15.45.
-Argia Gibson placed eighth in the women's 100m dash finals with a time of 12.48 to score for Asheville.
-The men's 4x400m team placed eighth overall with a time of 3:20.81. With that time, the team of Kimani Anderson, Chase Stevens, Patrick Osborne and Andy Thornburg will earn a new program record.
-Chase Stevens and Kayli Nichols each earned a spot on the Big South Conference All-Academic team for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the track.
