CULLOWHEE– The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's Track and Field teams will travel to Cullowhee for the one day Western Carolina Invitational as the last meet before the 2016 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
NOTABLES
-First up in the field for Asheville will be the men's high jump and the women's long jump beginning at 2:00 p.m. The first event on the track will be the women's 4x100m relay beginning at 3:30 p.m.
-All running events in Friday's competition will be women first followed by men.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs' last competition was the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 22-23.
-The weekend was highlighted by Alyssa Lashway's performance in the 800m. The senior placed eighth overall with a time of 2:14.88 for the highest finish for the Bulldogs of the weekend. She was followed closely by her teammate Kelsie Rubino who placed twelfth with a time of 2:15.79.
-Day one of competition was highlighted by Kelsie Rubino's performance in the 1,500m. Rubino posted a time of 4:38.89 to crack the top 15 in 14th place overall. She was joined in the top 25 by her teammate Casey Greenwalt who placed 21st with a time of 4:44.05.
-In the men's 800m, the Bulldogs were led by Chase Stevens who posted a time of 1:55.82 to place 28th of 62 runners. Stevens was joined in the top half of the pack by his teammate Patrick Osborne who recorded a time of 1:56.81.
- Kayli Nichols bettered her time in second place on the program's All-time list in the women's 400m hurdles, posting a time of 62.49.

On the Meet-“We're really looking forward to the meet this Friday, it will be some good competition with some local schools that we've got some experience with. This will be the last chance for our athletes to prepare for Conference, so we need to use this opportunity to fine tune some of our events.”

Following Friday's meet, Asheville will travel to Lynchburg Virginia for the 2016 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 10-12.
