ATLANTA – The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's track and field teams concluded a busy first day at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

The first event on Saturday, April 23 will be the women's high jump, set to begin at 11:00 a.m., and the first event on the track will be the women's 4x100m relay at 1:00 p.m.

 

NOTABLES

- Day One was highlighted by Kelsie Rubino's performance in the 1,500m. Rubino posted a time of 4:38.89 to crack the top 15 in 14th place overall. She was joined in the top 25 by her teammate Casey Greenwalt who placed 21st with a time of 4:44.05.

 

- In the men's 1,500m, senior Andy Thornburg led the way for the Bulldogs, breaking 4:00 to place 17th with a time of 3:58.53. He was joined by a fleet of other Bulldogs: Blanton Gillespie (4:00.96), Dominic Collichio (4:01.25), Chilton Birdwhistell (4:09.94), Chase Stevens (4:11.19), David Hager (4:12.84) and Caleb Smith (4:16.31).

 

-In the women's 100m hurdles, Asheville featured three Bulldogs in the first round. Kayli Nichols was first through the line for Asheville with a time of 14.65, followed by her teammates Nateja Hale (15.96) and Katherine Duquiatan (17.05).

 

- Day Two for the Bulldogs will feature the men's and women's high jump, women's 4x100m relay, men's and women's 800m, men's and women's 400m, women's 400 intermediate hurdles and the men's and women's 200m.
