2016 Beynon Sports Catamount Classic
End Day Two

CULLOWHEE – The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's track and field teams turned in top finishes at the 2016 Beynon Sports Catamount Classic.
NOTABLES
-The Bulldog women placed fifth with a total of 49.5 points, while the men finished in seventh place with 39 total points.
-Day two for Asheville was highlighted by a win in the women's 800 meter run from senior Kelsie Rubino. She posted a time of 2:14.36 to take her heat and the event.
-The women's 4x100 meter relay started the day strong for the Bulldogs, making their way onto Asheville's All-time list in the first event of the day. Asheville's team of Kayli Nichols, Argia Gibson, Nateja Hale and Anna Gelbach posted a time of 48.52 to finish seventh overall and third-best in program history.
-On the men's side, freshman Blanton Gillespie broke into the top five in the men's 3,000 meter steeple chase. Gillespie posted a time of 10:20.21 to place fifth overall and secure four points for Asheville.
-Seniors Andy Thornburg and Patrick Osborne both placed in the top ten in the men's 1,500 meter run. Thornburg (fifth) posted a time of 4:02.98, and Osborne (eighth) turned in a time of 4:08 flat.

On the weekend- “ Pretty excited about what we did this weekend, we had a lot of event groups that took a step in the right direction. We had a good number of kids up front battling for top finishes across multiple events. This gives us some confidence and sets us up for a good weekend at Georgia Tech.”

Following this weekend's action, The Bulldogs will return to the track for the 2016 Georgia Tech Invitational on April 22-23.
