2016 Beynon Sports Catamount Classic
End Day One

CULLOWHEE – The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's track and field teams wrapped up day one of the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic this evening with a heat win and top finishes at WCU. Day two will begin tomorrow at 12:15 p.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay.
NOTABLES
- At the end of day one, the men are second overall in team points with 26, trailing Western Carolina with 70. The women are currently in fifth place with 13 points going into day two.
-Day one for the Bulldogs was highlighted by junior Keenan Devaney's win in the men's javelin. Devaney threw a personal best of 51.92 meters to take the event and post 10 points for the Asheville men.
-Asheville had a strong showing in the women's 10,000 meter run, with four Bulldogs scoring for a total of 13 points for the women. Sarah Heisner led the pack for Asheville, finishing in fourth with a time of 39:33.61. Phoebe Schneider (40:10.05) finished in fifth with Erin Dalton just behind her in sixth (40:11.01). Rounding out the group for the Bulldogs was Amy Castle finishing in eighth with a time of 41:15.75.
- The men also scored in the 10,000 meter run with three Bulldogs adding points to Asheville's total. Dominic Collichio led the way for the Bulldogs, placing third with a time of 33:39.13. Just behind him was freshman, Zach Boone in fourth place (33:39.14). While Asheville's Ryan Catrine nearly missed the top five in sixth place with a time of 34:11.46.
