Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA – The UNC Asheville Track and Field teams continue their 2016 Outdoor season this weekend with the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
This weekend's meet will feature the following teams as well as a handful of unattached athletes:
Auburn (M/W), Clemson (M/W), East Tennessee State (M/W), Furman (M/W), Georgia (M/W), Georgia State (W), Georgia Tech (M/W), Kennesaw State (M/W), Kent State (M/W), Middle Tennessee State (M/W), South Carolina (M/W), UNC-Asheville (M/W), Western Carolina (M/W)
NOTABLES
-Day one for the Bulldogs will feature the men's and women's 5,000 meter run. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., the event will be run with the women up first and the men to follow.
-Action will continue for Asheville on Saturday afternoon with the men's pole vault beginning at 12:30 p.m.
-In all running events throughout the weekend, the schedule will run Women, followed by Men.
A LOOK AT LAST WEEKEND
In last weekend's 49er Invitational, the Bulldogs opened up with solid marks in both days of competition. On day one, Kayli Nichols set the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.52. She made her way into the second place spot on the all-time list in her debut race in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.10.
In the women's long jump, junior Argia Gibson turned in a mark of 5.62m which puts her second in the Big South Conference standings after the opening weekend. Gibson is a defending All-Conference finisher in the women's long jump.
Kimani Anderson's time of 50.37 in the men's 400 meter prelims became Asheville's No. 4 all-time best mark.
On day two, Nathan Kirse led the way for Asheville, finishing sixth overall in the men's 3,000 meter run with his time of 9:1643. He was joined in the top ten by his teammate Ryan Catrine, who finished seventh with a time of 9:23.29.
Asheville had two top 15 finishers in the women's 800 meter run. The Bulldogs were led by Kelsie Rubino's 11th place finish (2:16.73), followed closely by Alyssa Lashway in 13th with a time of 2:17.80.

Following this weekend's meet, Asheville will have a weekend off before returning to the track on April 8th-9th for the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Al.
