Bulldogs Set to Open Outdoor Track Season in Charlotte

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville opens its 2016 outdoor track and field schedule this weekend when the Bulldogs make the short trip to Charlotte and compete in the 49er Classic, and annual meet on the Asheville schedule. The Bulldogs are one of approximately 50 teams competing in the meet.
NOTABLES
-This weekend's meet will be the first for the Bulldogs since competing in the Big South Indoor Championships back at the end of February. There, Asheville finished 7th on the men's side and 9th on the women's, but were just 20 points out of fourth place in both.
-Day one action includes both field and running events and kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with the hammer throw. Friday will feature nearly 12 hours of action, with the final event of the evening (5,000 meter run final heats) not scheduled until at 9:45 p.m. at the earliest.
-Saturday's day two action begins at 10:00 a.m. with concurrent field and running events, wrapping up in the late afternoon with running final events and distance races.

Following this weekend's meet, the Bulldogs continue their outdoor schedule next weekend when they travel to Atlanta to compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
