Men's Soccer Opens Big South Play at Greenwood Field Sunday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team returns home after a month-long hiatus to open Big South Conference play Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against visiting High Point. Both teams enter league play coming off of 1-0 victories last time out.
NOTABLES
-UNC Asheville goalkeeper Zak Davis is ranked third nationally in saves per game (6.17/per) and is No. 9 in the country in total saves (37). Davis leads the BSC in both categories.
-Zach Joens leads Asheville in scoring, tallying three of the Bulldogs six total goals to date in 2015. Ben Chapel is second on the team with three points and a goal
-Asheville has a 6-18-2 record all-time against High Point. High Point won the team's regular season meeting last year (3-0 at HPU) and also ended the Bulldogs' 2014 season in the opening round of the Big South Tournament (1-0 HPU win).
-The last time the Bulldogs opened Big South Conference play with a victory was in the 2011 season when they beat Radford 1-0 in overtime on the road. The last home win for Asheville to open BSC play came in 2008 against then-conference member VMI (2-1 OT win).

The Bulldogs will take on Big South foes Radford (Sept. 30) and Gardner-Webb (Oct. 3), and also will play regional rival Appalachian State (Oct. 6) before returning home to face Coastal Carolina on October 10.
