ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team opens 2015 with three matches in the UNC Charlotte Invitational, taking on USC Upstate, Davidson College and tournament-host UNC Charlotte this weekend. The Bulldogs return 12 players from last season and added a pair of freshmen while not losing a single player off last year's squad.
NOTABLES
-After having zero seniors last season, the Bulldogs now have four seniors as part of their roster. Asheville brings back 12 players who have all contributed during their careers to this point.
-Since 1994, Asheville is: 5-2 against USC Upstate, 1-2 against Davidson, and 4-8 against Charlotte. Asheville's last meetings with the three teams prior to this weekend are: USC Upstate (2014), Davidson (2011) and Charlotte (2013).
-The last Asheville victory against any of their three opponents this weekend was a three-set victory at USC Upstate in the 2009 season.
-The Bulldogs have gotten off to slow starts the last three years, going a combined 3-12 over the first five games of 2012, 2013 and 2014.

-Following this weekend's tournament, Asheville takes on regional rival Western Carolina on Tuesady in Cullowhee. The Bulldogs open the home portion of their schedule next Friday when they host Montreat College.
