06.26.2015 | Men's Soccer

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will hit the road for 13 of their 19 total matches in 2015, as first year head coach Mathes Mennell released his schedule this afternoon.

The Bulldogs will become road warriors this season, as eight of their first 10 matches are on the road, including five-straight road contest stretch that features a pair of games in Vermont.

“We are very excited about our 2015 schedule. In addition to the always challenging Big South slate, we have a really exciting mix of non-conference opponents,” Mennell stated. “We have some great opportunities to play some quality games against quality programs. It should be a great forum for this team to showcase the exciting brand of football we hope to play.”

Five of Asheville's six home games are Big South Conference matchups, as the Bulldogs will host High Point (Sept. 26), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 10), Liberty (Oct. 24), Presbyterian (Nov. 4) and Campbell (Nov. 7) on the Greenwood Field pitch.

The Bulldogs lone non-conference home game comes August 30 when they welcome Long Island University to town.

The season opens at USC Upstate on August 28, before the Bulldogs play their first home game against LIU Brooklyn at Greenwood Field.

Following that contest, Asheville hits the road again for five matches in three states over a 15-day stretch, beginning at James Madison on September 4. The Bulldogs play at Wake Forest on September 8 before their trek to Vermont, playing at the University of Vermont on September 11 and against the University of New Hampshire on September 13. The road trip concludes at VMI on September 19.

The Bulldogs first home contest in nearly a month will come on September 26 when they open Big South Conference play against High Point before hitting the road for conference contests at Radford (Sept. 30) and Gardner-Webb (Oct. 3).

A contest at regional rival Appalachian State comes on October 6 before Asheville returns home on October 10 to host Coastal Carolina. Following matches at Winthrop (Oct. 17) and William & Mary (Oct. 20), the Bulldogs will host Liberty on October 24 at Greenwood Field.

The final non-conference matchup of the season comes at Georgia State on October 27, followed by a road conference contest at Longwood (October 31) before the Bulldogs close out the regular season with a pair of home games on November 4 against Presbyterian and against Campbell on November 7.

Big South Tournament play begins on November 10.
