Track and Field Teams Compete at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The UNC Asheville men's and women's indoor track and field teams began competition at the Marshall Invitational on Friday with some solid results.
The Bulldog women's DMR squad took fourth place on Friday with a time of 12:48.49. The quartet of Maddie Lowe, Scarlett Beamon, Amy Castle and Erin Dalton enjoyed another good race as they prepare for the Big South Championships in two weeks.
Asheville's men DMR quartet also took fourth place on Friday. The foursome of Nathan Kirse, Patrick Osborne, Chilton Birdwhitstell and Ryan Catrine had a time of 10:44.
Both Bulldog teams had good results in the 5000 meters. Kevin Paradise took sixth in the event as he posted a time of 15:49. Kasey Briggs also took sixth at 18:13.42.
In the men's long jump, Asheville had two participants earning points for the Bulldogs. Mario Thorpe took fifth at 6.14 meters, while Keenan Devaney came in seventh at 6.13 meters.
Most of the Bulldogs will compete starting tomorrow morning.
