Lakatos and Vaughn Earn All-Big South Second Team Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pair of UNC Asheville volleyball players have garnered All-Big South Team accolades, as announced by the conference office today. Senior Chrissy Lakatos and junior Madison Vaughn were each honored as All-Big South Second Team selections while Lakatos additionally earned All-Academic Team honors.
Asheville's best statistical player in 2015, Lakatos leads the Bulldogs in multiple statistical categories, including: kills, kills per set and attack percentage, and is also in the top four players in four other categories (digs/digs per set, service aces, blocks and assists). Her 253 kills is the sixth-most in the Big South this season. Has tallied 1,181 kills and 1,006 digs over her four-year career.
A presence in the middle for the Bulldogs, Madison Vaughn leads Asheville in total blocks and blocks per set average and also has the best attack percentage of Asheville players with 100 or more total attacks. She sits second in the Big South Conference in blocks per set average, and has the fourth-most solo blocks in the conference (21). Also in the top-three statistically for Asheville in total kills and service aces.
A Health and Wellness major, Lakatos is honored on the All-Academic team for the third consecutive season.
Coastal Carolina sophomore Leah Hardeman was named the league's Player of the Year, while Molly Livingston of High Point earned Freshman of the Year honors and Coastal's Jozsef Forman was named Coach of the Year.
Lakatos, Vaughn and the rest of the Bulldogs begin play in the 2015 Big South Championship on Thursday afternoon against Winthrop. Asheville finished the regular season with a 15-11 overall record and will be the No. 4 seed for the tournament, which will be played at High Point University.
