2015 Big South Conference Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Asheville cross country junior Sarah Heisner earned Big South All-Conference honors for the third consecutive season Saturday morning as the Bulldog women's team finished fourth overall and the men placed fifth in the 2015 Big South Conference Championships.
NOTABLES
-Heisner was the highest Asheville finisher in either race, finishing eighth overall with a time of 18:08.12 in the women's race. Two other finished in the top 25 on the women's side – seniors Kasey Briggs (14th, 18:39.96) and Erin Dalton (24th, 19:01.14).
-Scarlett Beamon (29th, 19:10.99) and Casey Greenwalt (33rd, 19:77.21) rounded out the top five finishers for the Bulldog women's team.
-In the men's open race, Dominic Collichio led the Bulldogs with a 25:50.49 time to finish 17th overall.
-Nathan Kirse (24th, 26:33.44), Patrick Osborne (27th, 26:44.45), Blanton Gillespie (33rd, 27:10.08) and Ryan Catrine (36th, 27:19.43) rounded out the top five finishers for the Asheville men's team.
-Heisner and Caleb Smith were each named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.

“On the men's side I felt like we followed the race plan pretty well today. We just had a very small window to beat Radford and came up just short. Proud of Dominic's effort as he is highest finisher we have had in a few years. His performance will be something to build off for the track season. For the women, I am bittersweet for their performance. They followed the race plan, however, we came up short the last mile and weren't able to close a top-three finish. Super proud of Sarah and Kasey's finish. Sarah about ran an all-time 5k personal record.
