ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team makes the quick trip south for a Friday morning Big South Conference matchup with Gardner-Webb on Education Day, with a special 11:30 a.m. start time. Asheville is coming off of a 1-1 weekend, falling to Winthrop Friday night before a Saturday victory over Presbyterian, while Gardner-Webb has won three in a row, defeating Presbyterian, Winthrop and North Carolina Central.
NOTABLES
-Asheville has had its' share of quick matches. Eight of the Bulldogs' 17 total matches have been won in three sets (4-4 record in three sets).
-The Bulldogs have dominated the fourth set of matches, winning seven of nine total fourth sets this season. Asheville has recorded five of their 10 victories in four sets.
-Through 17 matches, senior Christine Lakatos leads Asheville in total kills (160 kills) and kills per set average (2.62). Sophomore Amanda Powers is averaging 5.98 assists per set and junior Madison Vaughn has totaled 75 blocks (57 assists, 18 solo).
-Asheville is 12-8 all-time against Gardner Webb after the Bulldogs opened BSC play with a 3-1 victory over GWU on September 25.
