Briggs Leads Bulldogs at ETSU Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The UNC Asheville indoor track and field teams opened up competition on Friday at the ETSU Invitational.
The highlight of the day for the Bulldogs came in the 5000 meters where Asheville placed two runners in the top 13. Kasey Briggs finished ninth with a time of 18:27.07. Erin Dalton made her track debut and the two-time Big South All-Conference Cross Country runner posted a time of 18:35.79 and came in 13th.
In the 800 meters, Alyssa Lashway took 18th against a very strong field as she completed the course in a time of 2:21.94.
Most of the Bulldogs will be in competition on Saturday with the meet starting at 8 a.m. Action will commence with the men's and women's 5000 meter runs around 8 a.m. and will continue throughout the morning with various distance events. Field events will begin at noon with the men's long jump and pole vault finals, and will end at 4 p.m. with the women's long jump finals. Running competition will start back up at 1:25 p.m. and will progress through the afternoon and early evening. Action at the meet will close with the running of the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay around 7 p.m.
