STATESBORO, N.C.- Georgia Southern got goals from three different players en route to a 3-0 victory over UNC Asheville in men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field in the final game of the Springhill Suites Invitational.

The Bulldogs (1-3-1) placed two players on the All-Tournament team in Paul Egle and Andrew Sotak.

GSU (3-2-0) held a 1-0 lead at halftime with the second half delayed due to lightning in the Statesboro area.

When the second half finally started, the Eagles scored two quick goals in the 66th and 68th minute to seal the victory over Asheville.

“Georgia Southern did a good job with their collective defending, but we gave the ball away too frequently in dangerous areas,” stated Bulldog coach Matt Kern. “I thought we showed well for periods of the game, but in the end they were the better team on the day.

"We will rest and recover and get ready for Big South play in two weeks at High Point. I'm very happy for Paul Egle and Andrew Sotak to be named to the all-tournament team," added Kern.

The Eagles held an 18-7 edge in shots. Bulldog goalkeeper Dan Jackson made eight saves for Asheville.

Quentin Reynolds fired three shots for Asheville, while freshman Victor Aguiar had two shots for the Blue & White.

Asheville has the next two weeks off before opening Big South Conference play at High Point on Sept. 27.
