ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country will have a home meet next weekend when they host the Asheville Cross Country Carnival at Asheville Christian Academy on Saturday, Sept. 20.
The meet will consist of men's and women's college teams plus a high school race for both boys and girls.
Action begins with the men's collegiate 8K race at 9 a.m., followed by the women's 5K race at 9:45. The boys' high school 5K race is scheduled to start at 10:20 with girls' 5K race at 11 a.m.
The collegiate field has grown to 12 teams this year with SEC foe Alabama joining this year's event. Also scheduled to be in the race will be Marshall, Western Carolina, Wofford and Montreat.
“We're really excited about hosting a meet again this year,” stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. “This is the third year in a row we've had a home meet and each year it gets a little bigger. We're grateful to the staff at Asheville Christian Academy for allowing us to race at their facility again this year.
“Our teams are really pumped to have a home meet and race in front of their friends and families,” added Norman.
