CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team picked up another first today.
For the first time since the program was reestablished in the fall of 2012, the Bulldogs have a Swimmer of the Week.
UNC Asheville's Alexandra van Dorsten was selected as the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmer of the Week after winning three events last Friday at North Carolina A&T.
UNC Asheville, led by van Dorsten, defeated North Carolina A&T last week. She closed out the regular season with a pair of first-place victories in the 50-yard freestyle (25.51) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.98). Additionally, van Dorsten grabbed another first-place finish swimming the butterfly leg of the 200-yard medley relay with a split of 29.20. The award is her first Swimmer of the Week award this season.
With the victory, the Bulldogs finished the regular-season with a 6-5 dual record. They'll compete next weekend at the CCSA Championships in Knoxville.
