Indoor Track Teams Open the Season on Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville indoor track and field season begins on Saturday when both the men's and women's teams take part in the JDL College Kickoff that will be held in Winston-Salem starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Bulldogs will bring a majority of their teams to Winston-Salem on Saturday. Most of the distance squad will not run tomorrow.

“We're looking forward to the start of the year,” explained Asheville coach Jesse Norman. “We have a nice nucleus returning, and I believe we've brought in a talented recruiting class that can score some points for across the board. This will be a good meet to see where we're at after fall training and what we have to improve on as the season goes forward.”

Bulldogs to watch out for this season on the women's side include sprinter Kassie Pierre, middle distance runner Alyssa Lashway and Alex Blue in field events.

On the men's side, senior thrower John Bellard, junior middle distance runner Patrick Osborne and senior distance runner Kevin Paradise.
