CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming is back in action starting today at the Wingate Fall Frenzy that will be held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in downtown Charlotte.
The event begins today at 10 a.m. and continues through Sunday afternoon.
Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins is looking forward to her team competing in this weekend's meet.
"This weekend's mid-season invitational presents an excellent opportunity for the team to compete in a championship meet format. I feel we have made significant strides in our individual and relay events in the last three months,” stated Lykins. “The team plans to build on some high-quality swims from the last dual meet at Georgia Southern and set many personal and team records."
The Bulldogs last swam at Georgia Southern two weeks and nearly pulled off a big upset before the Eagles held on and won, 141-124.
The highlight of the meet for the Bulldogs was sweeping the 200 backstroke and earning 16 points. Freshman Emily Werth finished first and setting a freshman record with a time of 2:09.07. Ale Sanchez took second at 2:09.75, while Stephanie Smith took third at 2:11.78
