Bulldogs Sweep Men's Hoops Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville sophomore guard Andrew Rowsey (Lexington, Va.) has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while teammate forward Kem Ubaru (Sugar Land, Texas) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for games played the opening weekend of the regular-season, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Rowsey averaged 27.0 points against Wake Forest and East Carolina. He opened the season with 26 points, six steals and three assists against the Demon Deacons, and followed with 28 points, three assists and 15-of-16 from the charity stripe in leading the Bulldogs to a victory over East Carolina.
Ubaru averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first two collegiate games. He scored 10 points and collected two rebounds at Wake Forest. Ubaru just missed a double-double at East Carolina with 17 points and nine rebounds. He was 8-of-16 from the field and 11-of-15 from the free throw line in the two games.
