ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will play its final home game on Sunday when the Bulldogs host Longwood in a key Big South Conference battle at Greenwood Field starting at 1 p.m.

Prior to the match, the school will honor its six seniors playing their final home match. The six seniors are Paul Egle, Quentin Reynolds, Dan Jackson, Tyler Parker, Patrick Phillip and Joey Cutting.

Asheville (2-8-3, 0-5-2 BSC) hopes to build on its momentum of its overtime win on Thursday when the Bulldogs rallied past UMASS, 2-1.  The Blue & White trailed 1-0 but got a goal from Paul Egle to tie the match at 1-1. Jackson Allen's game-winning goal in overtime gave the Bulldogs their second win of the year.

Longwood (3-11-1, 2-4-0 BSC) and Asheville are battling for the eighth spot in the Big South Conference Tournament, making Sunday's match crucial for both teams.

“The boys are looking forward to our final home match of the season against Longwood.  It will be nice to recognize our six seniors prior to the game,” stated Bulldog coach Matt Kern. “Three massive points are available and we are anticipating an exciting college soccer game.”

Allen leads Asheville in goals scored with four and points with eight. Egle is second on the club in points with seven as he has two goals and three assists.

Dan Jackson has been the Bulldogs starting goalkeeper this season. His 91 saves lead the Big South Conference and his 7.0 per game average is second nationally.
