ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team plays its final non-conference regular-season match on Thursday when the Bulldogs host Massachusetts at Greenwood Field starting at 5 p.m.
Thursday's match can be seen for free on the Big South Network under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com.
The Bulldogs (1-8-3) are looking for their second win of the season and hoping to end a 10-game winless streak. The Minuteman (2-12-1) ended an eight-game winless streak on Sunday with a 2-0 victory at Fordham.
“The group is looking forward to our final non-conference match against UMass,” stated Bulldog coach Matt Kern. “It is always beneficial to compete against out of region opponents, and we are expecting an exciting match on Thursday.”
Asheville fell at Liberty Saturday afternoon, 3-1. The Bulldogs had an early lead on a goal from Victor Aguiar, but the Flames scored three times in the final 10 minutes of the opening half to take control of the contest.
Jackson Allen continues to be Asheville's leading scorer with three goals and six points. Aguiar had two goals and two assists for six points. Paul Egle has a goal and three assists for five points.
Senior goalkeeper Dan Jackson is third nationally in saves per game with a 6.83 per game average.
After Thursday's contest, the Bulldogs finish the regular season with three games in Big South Conference play. Asheville hosts Longwood Sunday afternoon at Greenwood Field starting at 1 p.m.
