ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swimming team will be home this weekend and will compete against three teams. The Bulldogs host Brenau University Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a tri-meet on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Gardner-Webb and Marshall. All the action takes place at Justice Center Pool.

Friday's match will be the team's annual “Pink-Out” meet as Asheville will wear pink to help support the fight against breast cancer.

The Bulldogs are looking for their first win of the year in the early part of the season. Asheville fell to Campbell, 175-87 two weeks ago in its first dual meet of the year.

Third-year head coach Elizabeth Lykins looks forward to the challenge of three meets in two days.

“The meets this weekend will challenge the team both physically and mentally and will provide us the opportunity to prepare for multi-day competitions such as conference championships in February,” commented Lykins. “The team's performances will also be a good gauge of how our training has progressed to this point in the season.”

The Bulldogs had one first place finish against Campbell. Asheville's one win came from senior Alessandra Troncoso. She finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.09.

Freshman Emily Werth took second in three events on the day for the Bulldogs. She finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:16.39). 200 backstroke (20:12.62) and 100 butterfly (1:01.80).
