10.20.2014 | Men's Soccer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) –UNC Asheville senior goalkeeper Dan Jackson is the Big South Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played Oct. 13-19, the conference announced today.
Jackson made nine saves and led a defensive effort that allowed just one goal to No. 22 Winthrop in a 1-1 draw. The Eagles entered the week ranked third in the country in scoring offense, and had not scored fewer than two goals in six consecutive games. Jackson faced 28 shots and played all 110 minutes in the double-overtime match.
It's the first time the Chapel Hill native has ever been named Defensive Player of the Week. Prior to the Winthrop game, Jackson was second nationally in saves per game (6.89).
