ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team is back on the road this weekend when the Bulldogs travel to defending Big South champion and national power Coastal Carolina starting at 1 p.m.

Saturday's match can be viewed for free on the Big South Network and can be accessed under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (1-5-2, 0-2-1 BSC) will have their hands full this weekend facing the 23rd-ranked Chanticleers (8-3-0, 2-0-0 BSC). CCU has won five straight and posted impressive non-conference wins over Charlotte, South Carolina and Connecticut.

Asheville upset the Chants last season, 1-0 on Senior Day in a memorable match at Greenwood Field. It was CCU's only league loss of the year before advancing to the “Sweet 16.”

“We are looking forward to challenging ourselves against one of the top teams in the country on Saturday at Coastal,” stated Kern. “They have had some impressive victories this season, and we respect their team and program.

“Our group knows we will need to be organized defensively and play quickly in the attack to give ourselves the best chance to get something out of the match,” added Kern.

The Bulldogs earned a point against Gardner-Webb last Saturday with a 1-1 tie. Asheville was out-shot 24-7 but rallied from a 1-0 deficit on a goal from Victor Aguiar late in the first half off a pass from Paul Egle.

The Bulldogs are looking for their first win at Coastal Carolina in 10 years. Asheville slipped past the Chants, 1-0 in 2004.

Jackson Allen leads Asheville in goal scoring with three goals. Egle had a goal and three assists for five points. Senior goalkeeper Dan Jackson has played every minute of every match this year and has accumulated a 1.89 goals-against-average with 53 saves.

The Bulldogs return home next Saturday (Oct. 18) to face Winthrop at Greenwood Field starting at 4:30 p.m.
