ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team will host its first regular-season swim meet on Saturday morning when the Bulldogs host Campbell at Justice Center Pool starting at 10 a.m.

The Bulldogs got off to a strong start to the 2014-15 season last week with a seventh-place finish at the All-North Carolina Invitational. It was the highest finish for Asheville since restarting the program two seasons ago. The Bulldogs are looking for their first dual win over the Lady Camels as CU has defeated Asheville head-to-head the last two years.

“We look to keep the momentum going from last weekend at the North Carolina Invitational against a traditionally strong Campbell team,” stated third-year coach Elizabeth Lykins. “I know the ladies are excited to swim before our home crowd.  In a short time, we have established a fun, fan friendly environment at the Justice Center pool.  With the spectators so close to the action, the swimmers can really feel their support.”

Asheville scored 515 points in last week's meet in Greensboro.

Highlighting the Bulldogs performance on Saturday was Galen Broido. She took fourth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:48.62. Broido was named UNC Asheville Blue Cross Blue Shield Athlete of the Week for her performance.

Freshman Emily Werth scored points for the Blue & White with an 11th place finish in the 100 backstroke as she posted a time of 1:00.67.

Allesandra Troncoso came in 18th in a strong field in the 100 breaststroke as she had a time of 1:09.34.
