ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Junior sprinter Milan Ristic became the first UNC Asheville Track and Field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field championships. Ristic will compete in the 60-meter hurdles this weekend (March 8-9) at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  The NCAA made the announcement Monday night.

Ristic will be one of 16 competitors who will compete for a national championship in the hurdles starting on Friday. He will be the 14th seed in the event as his top time this season was a school-record 7.75 seconds.

He has won the last two Big South Conference Indoor championships in the hurdles and won the outdoor title last spring. Ristic also qualified last spring for the NCAA Regional championship last year, just missing a spot at the national meet.

"I'm really happy for Milan. He's worked hard and had a great year," commented Bulldog assistant coach Joel Williams. "He'll do his best this weekend. Obviously, Milan will run against some great competition but he's been doing that all year. He'll be ready."
