ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's indoor track and field squads are back in action Saturday in Chapel Hill at the Kent Taylor Invitational. Action begins at 10 a.m. with the field events. Sprint events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

Both Bulldogs teams have performed well this year with Milan Ristic leading the way for the Asheville  men's squad. The sophomore sprinter has set the school record four different times in the 60-meter hurdles. He has also set a school record in the 200 meters. Ristic has been named Big South Track Athlete of the Week twice this year.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs did a great job in the 800 meters last week at the Niswonger Invitational last weekend. Alyska Kalmeijer finished second in the event at a time of 2:26. Emily Pineda took seventh at 2:27.

In the one mile run, junior Melanie Kulesz came in third with a time of 5:19. In another one mile run, Asheville placed four runners in the top 14 as Adrian Etheridge took fifth (5:23), Rachel Carson came in sixth (5:24), Kasey Briggs finished 11th (5:30) and Clair Powell took 14th (5:32).

The women's distance medley team had a solid fifth-place finish as they had a time of 12:31

"We're doing a nice job so far this year but we can get better," stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "This will be a good meet for us and see how much we've improved from the start of the season."
