Indoor Track to Compete at Dick Taylor Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams open the 2012 season this afternoon at the Dick Taylor Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Eddie Smith Field House. More than 20 teams will compete at the annual invitational.
The Bulldogs opened the season last month at Appalachian State and posted some impressive results.
Milan Ristic finished first and set a school record in the 55-meter hurdles, and Melanie Kulesz came in the first in the mile to highlight the Bulldogs performance.
Ristic crushed the field in the 55 meters as the new school record in the 55 meters at UNC Asheville is 7.47. He came first in a field that included runners from Appalachian State, South Carolina and Western Carolina.
The Bulldogs women's distance team in the mile went 1-2 in the mile. Kulesz came in first with a time of 5:15. Emma Bussard took second at 5:25.
On the men's side, Courtney Henry posted the third best in time in the 55 meters with a time of 6.57.
Highlights on the women's side included a solid performance from Meredith Foster. She had a jump of 1.58 meters, the third best in school history.
Freshman Molly Harakavy made her first meet memorable by running the second fastest time in school history in the 55 hurdles at 8.65.
"I was pleased for the most part with our performances at Appalachian State last month," commented Asheville coach Jesse Norman. "We really had a great first meet. I'm anxious to see how we perform in Chapel Hill against some big-time teams."
