Men's Soccer Hosts Brevard on Monday
09.18.2011 | Men's Soccer
Asheville (0-4-1) has played some good soccer this season against some outstanding competition but doesn't have much to show for their play.
"We've battled and we're improving with each match but we would like to find a way to win a match here pretty soon," stated Bulldog coach Matt Kern.
Kern's club has not played since last weekend when it dropped two matches in the Furman Invitational. The Bulldogs lost to the Paladins, 3-2 on Sept. 9 and then a double-overtime defeat to College of Charleston on Sept. 11, 2-1.
Brevard is 0-4-1 on the season but Kern expects a tough match from the Tornados.
"Brevard is well-coached and has some good players," explained Kern. "They've faced a tough schedule, as well. We better be ready to play from the start against them on Monday."
The teams met for the first time last season at Greenwood Field with Asheville posting a 3-0 victory.
This is a make-up game from Sept. 6. That match was postponed due to heavy rain in the Asheville area.
"I'm glad we've had some time off. We've been able to heal some injuries and are starting to get healthy," said Kern.
