ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team travels to mountain rival Western Carolina Tuesday night for a match with the Catamounts at the Ramsey Center starting at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs (5-5) picked up a second-place finish at the Country Inn & Suites Tournament in Chattanooga this past weekend. Asheville lost to ETSU on Friday but then bounced back with victories against Tennessee Tech and Chattanooga.  Cindi Miller and Meredith Foster earned All-Tournament honors for their play.

"We played pretty well this weekend," commented first-year coach Frederico Santos. "I was pleased with our effort as we had a couple of injuries but found a way to get through those injuries and earn two wins. Even in our loss to ETSU, we played well."

Asheville is through with in-season tournaments. The Bulldogs face an improved Western Carolina squad this evening. The Catamounts are 2-8 on the season but have faced a brutal non-conference schedule that has seen them lose to teams like Purdue, N.C. State and Wisconsin.

"I know that anytime we play Western Carolina, you can simply throw away the records," admitted Santos. "It's always a tough match with them and always a challenging one when we play in Cullowhee."
