Bulldog Indoor Track and Field Teams Compete at Big South Meet

CLEMSON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Indoor Track and Field squad scored 13 points on the first day of the Big South Conference Indoor Meet at Clemson Thursday.
The highlight of the day for the Bulldogs had to be the second-place finish from the Distance Medley team. The four-person team of Clair Powell, Alyska Kalmeijer, Sarah Gentry and Kylie Smith posted a time of 12:27.
Sophomore distance runner Melanie Kulesz came in fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:10.
Sarah Gentry qualified for the 800 meters finals on Friday with a time of 2:19.
Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson made her Indoor season debut a good one. She qualified for the finals of the 100 meters at 7.57 and in the 200 meters at 25.03.
On the men's side, Asheville scored two points. Highlights of the day came from Milan Ristic who qualified for the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.31. Sam Maynard qualified for the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.
The Bulldogs got their two points from Distance Medley team that finished in seventh place. The four runners in that event were Sam Maynard, Stuart Johnson, Sebastian Paniagua and Carlos Lopez had a time of 10:38.
The finals of the meet will begin Friday morning.
