BOONE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Indoor Track and Field men's and women's team opens the 2011-12 season when the Bulldogs compete in the Appalachian State Invitational this weekend.
Both squads will bring most of their roster as they look forward to starting the season.
"I am excited about the start of track season," commented Asheville coach Jesse Norman. "We have a good team back and they've worked hard in the preseason. This is a great meet for us to see where we're at and what we have to work on when our schedule really kicks in next month."
The meet begins on Friday at 5 p.m. with the triple jump and weight throw, and will continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. starting with the long jump, pole vault, shot put, high jump and the women's 55m hurdles.
This weekend's meet is scheduled to have 16 teams participating including Charlotte, Western Carolina and Wofford.
