CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - UNC Asheville's Kelsey Benorden has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week in volleyball, while Liberty setter Jade Craycraft was tabbed the Freshman of the Week.  High Point's Julie Hershkowitz picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played Aug. 31 through Sept. 5, the League announced today.

Benorden, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., recorded 67 kills on the weekend in helping lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record at the 2010 South Alabama Invitational.  The outside hitter notched three double-doubles in the four-match span, including a 25-kill performance against Alabama A&M on Sept. 4.  On the defensive side, Benorden came up with 44 digs and turned away seven attacks at the net.  She also posted five aces, averaged 4.47 kills per set and hit .284 to garner All-Tournament honors at the event.

The Bulldogs are 4-3 on the young season and will participate next in the ETSU Invitational this weekend. Asheville faces UNC Greensboro Friday at 4:30 p.m. before playing Austin Peay and ETSU on Saturday.
