Men's Soccer Falls in Opener to IUPUI, 3-1

The match was a tale of two halves. The Jaguars controlled play in the first half as they scored twice and out-shot Asheville 9-2. In the second half, the Bulldogs dominated play as they out-shot IUPUI, 9-3.
Branden Lassen scored the first goal of the season for Asheville at 77:10. Trailing 3-0, he hit a shot from 22 yards out to cut the Jaguar lead to 3-1.
IUPUI opened the scoring at the 24:28 mark on a goal from Jeff Keyler. Less than two minutes later, Perez Agaba scored his first of two goals to pad the lead to 2-0.
Agaba scored early in the second half when he tapped in a loose ball at 47:23 for a 3-0 IUPUI lead.
The Bulldogs took charge after that but couldn't the ball into back of the net until Lassen's goal. Jaguar goalkeeper Tyler Keever was forced to make five saves in the match, including four in the second half. Asheville had another shot stopped by an IUPUI defender as he cleared the ball off the line.
Bulldog goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen made five saves for Asheville.
Matt Kern's club will play the second game of the tournament on Sunday at Noon when the Bulldogs face Eastern Illinois.
