ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team finishes up its Atlantic Sun portions of its schedule when the Bulldogs travel to East Tennessee State on Saturday for a 7 p.m. match with the Buccaneers. The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at https://asun.neulion.com/asc/console.jsp.

Matt Kern's club looks to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday. The match is the fourth of four straight games against Atlantic Sun opponents. Asheville fell at USC Upstate Wednesday night, 1-0. The Bulldogs (2-4-0) out-shot the Spartans 21-12 but just couldn't get the ball in the back of the next. On Sunday, Asheville lost at Belmont, 2-1 and out-shot the Bruins, 20-12.

"We've actually played very well the last two matches but just haven't been able to get a result," commented Kern. "We're getting a lot of shots but one thing I want us to do is get more shots on target. I'll take a few less shots if we can get them on goal."

Things don't get any easier for the Bulldogs on Saturday when they face ETSU. The Buccaneers are 4-2-0 on the season and coming off a 2-1 overtime victory over Marshall. ETSU also beat Clemson earlier in the year.

"ETSU is a good team with some solid results so far," admitted Kern. "We're going to have to play even better than we've been playing to try and get a win on Saturday night."

Asheville won last year's match-up at Greenwood Field, 1-0 on a goal from Jake Hagedorn. This Buccaneer program is just three years old as the school brought soccer back after a long hiatus. ETSU had dropped men's soccer in 1981.

Asheville will return home to Greenwood Field on Wednesday (Sept. 29) when the Bulldogs open Big South Conference play against Gardner-Webb starting at 4 p.m.

"We're looking forward to getting back to Greenwood Field to play a match," stated Kern. "
