UNC Asheville Men's Soccer Hosts Mars Hill on Wednesday in Exhibition Match

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will play the first of two exhibition games Wednesday at Greenwood Field when the Bulldogs take on Mars Hill College starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Wednesday's game will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.
The Bulldogs have been working hard under first-year coach Matt Kern. Kern looks forward to playing a match on Wednesday.
"There's always things you need to work on, but I think we're ready to play an exhibition game," stated Kern. "Our guys are working hard and doing a good job getting ready for the season."
Kern expects a stern challenge from the Lions. Mars Hill went 8-8-4 last season and has a talented team returning.
"Mars Hill is well-coached and a good team," declared Kern. "We're familiar with them, and we know we're going to have to play well on Wednesday."
The Bulldogs have a second exhibition game on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Asheville will entertain Appalachian State starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for that contest, too. There will be an autograph session for both the Bulldog men's and women's teams afterwards.
"Both exhibition matches should challenge us," commented Kern. "App State has a good club that should make some noise in the Southern Conference this season."
Asheville opens the regular season with a tournament at Kentucky on Sept. 3. The Bulldogs play IUPUI on Sept. 3 and Eastern Illinois on Sept. 5.
