Competition is slated to begin Friday at noon with the women's javelin. 1,500 plus athletes are scheduled to participate in the two day event.
"This meet will give us an opportunity to run some quality times before the conference meet in two weeks," stated Asheville head coach Jesse Norman. "We hope to take advantage of Duke's fast track."
Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson returns to action this weekend in both the 100 and 200 meters. She took first in both sprint races last weekend at the Beyon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic held at Western Carolina.
Other highlights from Western Carolina included senior Corrie Trotter placing second in the high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters. Freshman Ashlei Clodfelter also threw the javelin 36.09 meters to finish in second place.
On the men's side, Sam Maynard leads the Bulldogs this weekend after finishing third in the 800 (1:53.56) at Western. Fellow teammate Eli Chirchir finished closely behind him at 1:53.57 for the fourth spot.
Multi-event specialist Simon Haake returns to action this weekend in the javelin. Haake will be looking to improve his school record performance of 61.22 meters from the Charlotte meet two weeks ago.
