Indoor Track and Field Runs at Appalchian State on Friday

Bulldog Track and Field Squads Head to Charlotte

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams are back in action this weekend at the 49ers Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte.

Competition is slated to begin Friday morning with the field events and preliminaries in the sprints later on in the day. The meet will conclude Saturday with the 1,600-meter relay.

"We have a great opportunity to compete against some solid competition on a fast track, which could produce fast times for us,"  stated Asheville head coach Jesse Norman.

Senior sprinter Natalie Pearson leads the way for the women. Pearson who broke her own school record in the 200 meters last weekend is currently ranked number one in the nation at 24.01.

On the men's side, junior Simon Haake returns to action in the javelin. Haake is coming off a school-record performance of 60.98 meters at the Coastal Carolina Invitational last weekend. He is currently ranked 14th nationally and 12th regionally.

Other women's performers to watch for are Emma Bussard and Rachel Ambrosia. Bussard is currently ranked eighth in the East Region in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase with a season best time of 12:03. Ambrosia is currently ranked 13th in the region in the same event with a time of 12:43.
