ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville senior sprinter Natalie Pearson's record-setting time in the 200 last weekend at the Coastal Carolina Invitational has her ranked number one in the nation.

Pearson ran the fastest 200 in school history on Saturday with a time of 24.01. She finished first in the event, beating out more than 80 runners that participated in the event.

"Natalie was incredible last weekend," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "We expected a good performance out of her but to run 24.01 was simply amazing."

Pearson's performance wasn't the only one to receive national and regional rankings. Sophomore Emma Bussard's time of 12:03 in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase has her ranked eighth in the East Region. Rachel Ambrosia is 13th in the region in the same event with a time of 12:43.

On the men's side, Simon Haake is 12th in the region and 14th nationally in the javelin. He finished fourth at Coastal Carolina with a new school record of 60.98 meters.
