ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team gets back to work this weekend as the Bulldogs host two Big South Conference teams at Justice Center. Asheville faces High Point Friday night starting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Bulldogs entertain Radford at 3 p.m. Both matches will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Julie Torbett's team ended a frustrating three-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Mercer Tuesday night. The Mercer match began a six-game homestand for the Bulldogs (13-10, 5-4 BSC). Asheville has played just four matches at home this season.

"We're glad to be home for the next two weeks," commented Torbett. "It's been a long season with as many times as we've been on the road this year. Hopefully, we can get some momentum going playing in front of our home fans."

The Bulldogs played both High Point (14-11, 9-2 BSC) and Radford (8-17, 2-8 BSC) earlier this month with much different results. Asheville lost at High Point in three sets on Oct. 2. The day before the Bulldogs edged the Highlanders in four sets.

"We didn't play very well at High Point but they had a lot do with our struggles," admitted Torbett. "I've been very impressed with High Point the whole season. They have a very good team and no real weaknesses. We're going to have to be at our very best Friday night.

"Radford has improved a great deal since we played them," added Torbett. "They beat Winthrop last week and own some great non-conference victories. We're going to have to be extremely focused in each match."

One player who has been focused all year is junior outside hitter Cindi Miller. Cindi leads Asheville in kills with a 4.15 per set average. She has accumulated 972 kills for her career and needs just 28 to become the 12th player in school history to reach 1,000 kills.
